THE GOLDEN CIRCLE OF ICELAND
After breakfast you will explore the famous Golden Circle of Iceland. Your first stop will be at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Þingvellir holds a special place in the minds of the Icelandic nation as it is the birthplace of our culture and where chieftains gathered in the olden days to discuss political matters. It is also a geological wonder as the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are literally pulling it apart, creating an immense rift valley. You can even go for an optional snorkeling session between the continents. Next up is the Geysir geothermal area and the spouting hot spring Strokkur. After that you will drive to the iconic Gullfoss waterfall for some great photo opportunities. On your way to Selfoss you can stop by the volcanic crater Kerið. If you still have energy you can take a nice hike to Reykjadalur and bathe in the geothermal river that runs through the valley before heading back to Reykjavík.
