Itinerary.
The Golden circle is the most popular destination in Iceland. Geysers, Gullfoss waterfall and Þingvellir are a must see for any visitor to our island.
To add something unique to your experience a visit to the big volcanic crater called Kerið has been added to this day. The crater is 270 m wide and more than 55 m deep. There is a lake in the bottom of the crater which gives it a little bit of magic. The lake is almost 14 m deep.
Þingvellir National park is the National shire of all Icelanders. It lies within the belt of volcanic activity and fissures which pass across Iceland, a part of the mid-Atlantic ridge, the junction of the american and Eurasian tectonic plates. It is a nice feeling to stand with your right foot in Europe and the left one in America.
Geysir – the biggest geysers of Haukadalur are Strokkur and Geysir itself, which gives the others their name. Strokkur erupts every 5 to 10 minutes, throwing a column of water into the air to a height of 20 to 30 meters.
Gullfoss is one of the most amazing waterfalls in Iceland.
You will stay overnight in a cozy guesthouse very near to the great waterfall Seljalandsfoss
You'll start the day by visiting the two great waterfalls of the south coast, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, as well as visiting lesser known, more secret waterfalls Glufrabui and Írafoss. Your guide will make a stop where guests can buy lunch.
As the tour continues you will drive under the great Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano and the Mýrdalsjökull glacier cap, where you'll go for a Glacier Hike for about 1,5 hours and have a closer look at the Sólheimajökull glacier.
A bit further is the great Reynisfjara black sand beach, where the sea crashes upon black sands and hexagonal basalt columns and rock stacks tower over the surroundings.
You will be staying again overnight in a Nicehostel Seljalands, a very cosy accommodation close to the famous Seljalandsfoss.
Today, you will take a close look at majestic glaciers and lagoons. After a stop in the lovely village of Vik you'll drive to the East where you'll visit the waterfall Foss á Síðu and the National park in Skaftafell where your guide will make a stop where guests can buy lunch.
Then you'll head to the amazing Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon where you will have a boat tour, sailing on the lagoon. The lagoon is full of huge chunks of ice which crack off Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and float slowly out to sea. Some icebergs wash on shore, lying on the vivid black sand like diamonds on satin. There is a good possibility of seeing seals swimming around the huge icebergs.
After enjoying this wonderful experience the bus will head back in the afternoon towards Reykjavik. Your bus is estimated to arrive around 21:15 (09:15pm).
