Itinerary.
After driving from Reykjavik towards the South Coast we make our first stop at one of the four beautiful waterfalls that we will explore today.
The waterfalls are called Gljufrabui, Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss and the secret waterfall Kvernufoss. After making a stop where guests can buy lunch we drive up to the Solheimajokull glacier where we will go for a light and refreshing glacier walk on the glacier which takes about 1,5 hours. Then we visit the black beach of Reynisfjara where we will take a nice walk under the stunning basalt cliffs. The cliffs are home to countless puffins, kittiwake and fulmar, you can see them take off from the nests and go hunt for fish. At the end of the day we drive to our accommodation for the night, a very nice country guesthouse near Seljalandsfoss.
Today, you will take a close look at majestic glaciers and lagoons. In the morning, we drive to the lovely village of Vik where we make a stop before heading on towards the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. On the way we make a short stop at the waterfall Foss a Sidu and stop in the National Park of Skaftafell where it is possible to buy lunch. The Jokulsrlon glacier lagoon is filled with huge chunks of ice which crumble from Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and float slowly out to sea. Some icebergs wash on shore, lying on the vivid black sand like diamonds. There is also a possibility of seeing seals swimming around the huge icebergs. After exploring the lagoon we head back to Reykjavik where we arrive around 21:30 (09:30pm).
