Hop aboard this ultimate South Iceland super-jeep safari and visit some of the most thrilling natural attractions in South Iceland. This is the perfect tour for those looking to experience Iceland’s unique nature and the thrill of crossing rough terrain in a super jeep.
One of the great benefits of this tour is that the decision of where to go is in the hands of your expert super jeep guide. On the day of the tour he/she will consider the weather and road conditions, then make a decision as to where you’ll explore. No matter the day we promise you a memorable adventure!
Here is an example of a possible route: You’ll start by heading to a beautiful black sand beach called Landeyjafjara. From there you’ll head to the stunning Seljalandsfoss waterfall and its little brother, Gljúfrabúi. Next up is the hidden waterfall inside the mysterious Nauthúsagil gorge and the underground rivers at Merkurker crater. Not so far away is Gígjökull ice cap where the floods from the Eyjafjallajökull eruption were first noticed. Your guide will share with you stories from the eruption in 2010 and explain the drastic changes that took place. You will also discover the beautiful area of Fljótshlíð where Iceland’s most famous Saga took place, the Saga of Njáll. There you will see the 44 meters tall waterfall Gluggafoss which forms part of the bigger Merkjárfoss falls.
From December 15th to June 1st there is also the possibility of going on top of the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano that erupted in 2010. In good weather the scenery from the top is spectacular with a view over the inland of Iceland, the surrounding glaciers, the black beaches and the Vestmannaeyjar islands. In addition you will get to look into the vast crater from which over 500 tonnes of ash per second were at one time being ejected!
The specially modified super jeeps are capable of crossing unbridged rivers and handling the rough terrain the Icelandic highlands are known for. The super jeeps allow you to explore the magnificence and power of the dramatic landscapes that characterise our beautiful island.
On this tour you will discover volcanoes, glaciers, stunning valleys, waterfalls and panoramic views. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience a super jeep safari with an experienced and passionate local guide.
